Three arrested for sword, iron rod attack on 41-year-old in Bantwal

Bantwal, Sep 25 (UNI) Three persons have been arrested for allegedly launching a sword and iron-rod attack on a 41-year-old man at Kammaje in Tenka Bellur village of Bantwal taluk, police said.
The injured man, identified as Prashanth Belchad, sustained serious injuries in the attack and was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on September 20 when Prashanth was at Kammaje. The accused, who were allegedly known to him, arrived in an autorickshaw and attacked him with a sword and an iron rod.
Police said the accused fled the spot after people known to the victim approached the area. Prashanth was subsequently taken to hospital with bleeding injuries.
The arrested persons have been identified as Prashanth, 38, of Ammunje, Ramadas, 43, of Tenka Bellur, and Shankar, 45, of Badaga Bellur, all from Bantwal taluk.
Following the complaint, Bantwal Rural police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
The three accused were arrested during the investigation and produced before a court, which remanded them to police custody for three days.
Police are investigating the motive behind the attack and the circumstances leading to the assault.
