Telangana: BJP urges Governor to press Govt for release of Rs 15,000 cr fee arrears

Hyderabad, Sep 8 (UNI) A BJP delegation led by Telangana State president N Ramchander Rao met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate release of Rs 15,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues, stating that the issue concerns the future of nearly 40 lakh students.
Later, talking to the media, Ramchander Rao said lakhs of students were unable to obtain their college certificates due to the pending reimbursements, while private colleges were struggling to pay salaries to teaching staff.
He urged the Governor to intervene and safeguard the education system. The Governor, he said, assured the delegation that he would speak to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on the issue.

Kozhikode: Reporter TV MD Anto Augustine remanded to 14 days' in liquor storage case

Kozhikode, Sep 17 (UNI) The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Sultan Batheri on Thursday remanded Reporter TV Managing Director Anto Augustine to 14 days' of judicial custody following his arrest by the Kerala Excise Department in connection with a major illegal liquor storage case.
Anto Augustine was sent to 14 days of judicial custody after the Excise Special Investigation Team (SIT) presented him before the court.
