Local Boday elections:Visakhapatnam Range IGP reviews election security, crime control

Visakhapatnam, Sep 26 (UNI) Visakhapatnam Range Inspector General of Police Gopinath Jatti on Saturday reviewed local body election preparedness, crime control, women and child safety, road safety and anti-narcotics measures with Superintendents of Police of six districts under his jurisdiction.
The review was conducted through a video conference with the SPs of Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam and Srikakulam districts.
Jatti directed the SPs to identify sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations, monitor history-sheeters and habitual offenders, initiate preventive legal measures and expedite the execution of pending non-bailable warrants.
He asked them to personally supervise election security arrangements and inspect sensitive areas ahead of the polls.
Reviewing women and child safety, he called for expediting investigations into POCSO, rape, dowry death and missing girl cases.
He also directed officials to identify accident-prone areas and strengthen road safety measures.
Under the Zero Drugs initiative, the IGP instructed police to intensify surveillance on ganja cultivation, transportation, storage and sale, trace drug supply networks and investigate the financial assets of those involved.
He also reviewed the implementation of APOLIS and TRISHUL, cybercrime prevention, pending murder investigations, Lok Adalat case settlements and Smart Policing.
