CPI(M) backs three-day nationwide bank employees’ strike

Hyderabad, Sep 27(UNI) The CPI(M) Telangana State Committee has extended its support to the three-day nationwide strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on September 28, 29 and 30.
In a statement, CPI(M) Telangana State Secretary John Wesley on Sunday said the main aim of the strike is to press for a five-day working week, opposing the unilateral approach towards the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and seeking resolution of issues related to the 12th Bipartite Wage Settlement.
He demanded that the Central Government immediately address the concerns raised by bank employees and officers and appealed to the working class across Telangana to extend support and make the strike successful.
The CPI(M) alleged that the Centre was undermining bilateral agreements by failing to ratify agreements reached in 2023 and by making unilateral changes to incentive structures. It also criticised the government’s alleged move towards privatisation of public sector banks, saying it could adversely affect job security.
The party claimed that public sector banks had been consolidated from 28 to 12 and alleged that efforts were being made to hand over Regional Rural Banks to corporate interests. It called upon employees, workers and the public to unitedly oppose what it described as the Centre’s policies towards the banking sector.
