Hyderabad, June 2 (UNI) The 12th Telangana Formation Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and grandeur across the state on Monday.
The main event took place at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unfurled the national flag and reviewed a ceremonial parade.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion. Japanese dignitary and Kitakyushu City Mayor Kazuhisa Takechi was the special guest at the event, which was attended by ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other public representatives.
Prior to the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes to the Telangana Martyrs at Gun Park before arriving at the Parade Grounds. The celebrations featured a vibrant march past by various contingents and a series of cultural performances that showcased the rich heritage of Telangana.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the aspirations behind the formation of Telangana—a separate identity, social justice, and equal opportunities—remain the guiding principles of his government.
He expressed gratitude to former Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her role in the formation of the state and paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for statehood.
He said that the people had rejected a decade of unfulfilled promises and brought in a "public government" to correct the past and build a more inclusive future.
The Chief Minister outlined a series of reforms and initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment, farmer welfare, youth employment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. He said that the government had distributed Rs 21,000 crore in zero-interest loans to women, launched the Indira Mahila Shakti Mission, and introduced special QR-coded health cards for women members of self-help groups.
He also announced plans to procure 600 RTC buses through women's groups and said that free travel for women would be extended with them becoming stakeholders in RTC’s growth.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that over Rs 20,617 crore worth of farm loans had been waived off, benefiting more than 25 lakh farmers, and that investment assistance under Rythu Bharosa had been increased to Rs 12,000 per acre. He mentioned that small farmers would receive an additional bonus of Rs 500 on paddy procurement, and that new initiatives were underway to resolve land disputes through the newly introduced Bhu Bharati-2025 Act.
On youth employment, he said over 60,000 government jobs had been filled in the last 16 months, appointment letters issued, and a financial assistance scheme of Rs 1 lakh had been launched for civil services aspirants. He also announced the setting up of Young India Skill University and a Sports University to prepare youth for national and international competitions.
