Hyd: Seethakka inaugurates SARAS Mela, calls for promoting women entrepreneurs

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Sunday inaugurated the Saras rural products exhibition and sales fair at HMDA Grounds here, calling for wider market opportunities to help women from self-help groups become successful entrepreneurs.
The minister visited stalls set up by women's self-help groups from Telangana and other states, inspecting handicrafts, handloom products, household items, pickles, snacks and millet-based products.
She interacted with the women about production, pricing, sales and marketing challenges, and tasted dishes prepared by them.
Seethakka said the government's objective was to help women move beyond savings and loans to become producers, business owners and entrepreneurs.
She highlighted the support available through bank loans, interest subvention, skill training and business development programmes.
She stressed the importance of branding, attractive packaging, competitive pricing and digital marketing in expanding businesses, adding that fairs such as Saras provided women an opportunity to reach urban consumers and national markets.
The minister appealed to the public to purchase products made by women's groups, saying support for rural enterprises would improve women's incomes, strengthen families and generate further employment opportunities.
Traditional Dappu performances, Koya dance, Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam were among the attractions at the event. SERP CEO Divya Devarajan, directors and other officials attended the programme..
