GTech Marathon 2027 registrations open, over 10,000 runners expected

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 15 (UNI) Registrations have opened for the fifth edition of the GTech Marathon 2027, scheduled to be held here on January 31, with more than 10,000 participants expected.
The official website of the marathon was launched by Apu John Joseph, MLA and Chief Whip of the Kerala Government, at a function held at Travancore Hall, Technopark, on Thursday.
The official logo of the event was unveiled jointly by O J Janeesh, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, and T Siddique, Minister for Agriculture. The function also witnessed the release of the marathon's promotional video and an interaction honouring local running clubs.
Organised by the Group of Technology Companies (GTech), the apex body representing Kerala's IT industry, the marathon will feature three categories — the half marathon (21.1 km), 10 km run and 5 km fun run — catering to participants of different age groups and fitness levels.
The event will be held under the banner "Say No to Drugs, Yes to Fitness", supporting the state government's #DrugFreeKerala initiative to raise awareness against substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle.
"Fitness is the foundation of a healthy society, and events like the GTech Marathon play a crucial role in mobilising our youth towards a disciplined, active lifestyle," Janeesh said.
He said the initiative would help encourage young people to embrace fitness and contribute to the state's efforts to combat substance abuse.
As part of its outreach, GTech has partnered with Operation Toofan to engage students in schools and colleges across Kerala, encouraging them to adopt running and other physical activities as healthy lifestyle choices.
Registrations are open at www.gtechmarathon.com. Super Early Bird offers, with discounts of up to 36 per cent, are available until November 1, 2026.
Individual runners, corporate teams, educational institutions, running clubs and residents' associations can register through the official website, the organisers said.
