Naxal scare: Rs 5 lakh demand letter found in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Sept 11 (UNI) A purported Naxal letter demanding Rs 5 lakh has triggered fresh security concerns in Karnataka, with the document surfacing in Pavagada taluk of Tumakuru district and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara directing police to ascertain whether it points to any revival of Naxal activity.
The Telugu-language letter, allegedly issued in the name of “Comrade Devanna Dalam” of the People’s War Janashakti Party, was found on the agricultural land of Kuntla Bhushappa at Gangasagara village in Pavagada taluk.
The letter reportedly carries a warning of serious consequences if its contents are brought to the notice of police. It allegedly claims that Naxals were stepping in over alleged harassment and political conspiracy involving Uppara Venkatesh and demands Rs 5 lakh purportedly to meet legal expenses.
