Karnataka SIR: 18.84L notices undelivered, 17.93L hearings pending

Bengaluru, Sept 11 (UNI) With the deadline for hearings under Karnataka’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls ending on Saturday, the exercise has brought into focus the responsibility of both voters and the election machinery in ensuring that eligible names remain on the rolls.
As many as 43,81,760 notices have been generated across the State for electors falling under the ‘no mapping’ and ‘anomalies’ categories. Of these, 24,97,075 notices, or 56.99 per cent, have been delivered, while 18,84,685, or 43.01 per cent, remain undelivered as of September 10.
The CEO’s office said 7,03,710 hearings, accounting for 28.18 per cent of the delivered notices, had been completed, while 17,93,365 remained pending.

Kozhikode: Reporter TV MD Anto Augustine remanded to 14 days' in liquor storage case

Kozhikode, Sep 17 (UNI) The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Sultan Batheri on Thursday remanded Reporter TV Managing Director Anto Augustine to 14 days' of judicial custody following his arrest by the Kerala Excise Department in connection with a major illegal liquor storage case.
Anto Augustine was sent to 14 days of judicial custody after the Excise Special Investigation Team (SIT) presented him before the court.
