AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi visits Calicut Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal in Kozhikode

Kozhikode, May 5 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday visited the Diocese of Kozhikode, which was recently given the status of a Metropolitan Archdiocese in the Malabar region, and met Archbishop of Calicut Varghese Chakkalakal.
Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakkal organised a warm reception for the AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi during her maiden visit at the Bishop House and honoured her by placing a shawl around her and also cut a cake with her.
The Congress MP also interacted with the sisters and other officials of the Bishop House and joined them for a photo session.
Mar Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal was appointed as the first Archbishop of the newly-established Archdiocese of Kozhikode on April 12, 2025 and Pope Francis elevated the Diocese of Kozhikode to the status of a Metropolitan Archdiocese in the Malabar region of Kerala.
Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi visited the newly-opened Passport Seva Kendra at the head post office at Kalpetta and interacted with the officials. She said the Seva Kendra is a significant step forward in bringing essential services closer to people.
She also held a constructive meeting with Southern Railway officials at the Block Panchayat conference hall in Wandoor in Malappuram district. Priyanka Gandhi assured them of her commitment to advancing the infrastructure and railway connectivity in the region.
