AP CM directs officials to take step to check spiraling prices of essential commodities

Vijayawada, Oct 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed the officials to take effective measures to prevent the impact of El Niño-induced price rise of essential commodities.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat here, he stressed the need to maintain strict vigilance over the prices of essential commodities and directed officials to ensure that the prices of rice, red gram, onions, edible oils and sugar do not rise.
Mr. Naidu enquired about the sale of rice being supplied by the government through Rythu Bazaars and asked the officials to explore the possibility of making fine-quality rice available at affordable prices through Rythu Bazaars during festivals such as Deepavali and Sankranti. He told the officials to increase the supply of onions to ensure that the common people do not face any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister emphasised that stringent measures must be taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the State. Reviewing the progress of the PM Surya Ghar scheme, he called for faster installation of rooftop solar panels and improved performance. Noting that Andhra Pradesh currently ranks fourth nationally, he said efforts should be intensified to improve the State's position further.
