TN Guv, Vijay, Stalin, leaders pay rich tributes to Bapu on his birth anniv

Chennai, Oct 2 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to Father of the Nation and Apostle of peace Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of
his 157th birth anniversary.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.V.Arlekar, Chief Minister Vijay and leaders of various parties paid tributes and recalled his principles of truth, non-vience, simplicity, honesty and humanity.
The Governor paid floral tributes to a portrait of Bapu at the Lok Bhavan and also inaugurated a special sale at the state-owned Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan in the city.
Tamil Nadu Minister and senior officials garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid floral tributes to his portrait.
Later, the Governor in a post said "on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, I pay my humble tributes to the Father of the Nation. Gandhiji’s timeless ideals of Truth, Non-violence, Satyagraha and selfless service continue to inspire humanity and guide us towards a just, peaceful and compassionate society.'
"His vision of a strong, self-reliant and inclusive India remains deeply relevant as we march towards Viksit Bharat@2047" Mr Arlekar said.
"On this Gandhi Jayanti, let us rededicate ourselves to upholding his values and contribute with sincerity, discipline and dedication towards building a prosperous, harmonious and self-reliant Bharat. My respectful homage to Mahatma Gandhi", he said.
The Governor accompanied by First Lady Ms.Anagha Arlekar, participated in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations and inaugurated the
Khadi Rebate Sales at Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Anna Salai, Chennai, today He highlighted the enduring relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of Swadeshi, self-reliance and dignity of labour, and emphasised the importance of promoting Khadi and indigenous products as a means of strengthening rural livelihoods and empowering local artisans.
"Khadi is not merely a fabric; it represents self-reliance, simplicity and the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Let us support Khadi and indigenous products and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat built on the strength, skills and enterprise of our people", he added.
Vijay also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and described him as a great leader who astonished the world through the “great weapon” of non-violence and played a historic role in India’s freedom struggle. He also paid tribute to Gandhi’s patriotism and life of sacrifice.
Vijay said Gandhi had spread love and brotherhood across the world by making simplicity, honesty, humanity, equality and social harmony the guiding principles of his life.
He called for fulfilling Gandhi’s dreams by building a society where peace, harmony and brotherhood flourish, while protecting the unity and integrity of the country.
“Let us continue our journey of victory on the righteous path shown by him,” Vijay said.
DMK President M.K.Stalin also paid rich tributes to Gandhi and in a social media post wrote "My life is my message: The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who never deviated from the path of truth."
Gandhiji was a man who has shaped himself through each and every experience he had in his life, whether in India, England, or South Africa.
He continuously interacted with the society and subjected himself and his ideas to change. But he remained true. "That's why he was
able to say, 'My life is the message I leave behind", he added.
He waid in honor of his recognition, he unveiled Gandhi's statue at the Egmore Government Museum complex in Chennai, renovated the Madurai Gandhi Memorial Museum without altering its original design, and re-introduced the Uttamar Gandhi Gram Panchayat awards during the previous DravidianModel regime.
"Let's study the life of Gandhiji! Let's learn from him! Let's protect an India that values religious harmony!", he added.
