Kharge turns Form 7 row into larger fight over EC's credibility, asks who supplied voter data

Bengaluru, Oct 5 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday escalated the political battle over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, questioning the Election Commission's role in the alleged misuse of Form 7 and asking how hundreds of pre-printed applications carrying voters' details reached individuals.
His remarks came as the BJP decided to approach the Election Commission against alleged violations by the Karnataka Congress. Kharge, however, turned the question back on the BJP, asking why the party was speaking on behalf of the Election Commission when the questions were directed at the poll panel.
"If there is a violation of law, should those responsible be felicitated instead of an FIR being registered?" he asked, questioning the BJP's opposition to criminal action in cases of alleged fraudulent Form 7 filings.
