AICC member Sampath Kr slams Harish Rao, calls dharna politically motivated conspiracy

Hyderabad, June 6 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Sampath Kumar on Friday launched a scathing attack on BRS leader Harish Rao, alleging that the latter's recent dharna was a politically motivated ploy aimed at misleading the public.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Sampath Kumar accused Harish Rao of exploiting local sentiments for personal political gain.

He said that despite Harish Rao’s political experience, he was behaving in a “depraved manner” and making baseless and provocative statements about a seed factory project, which he alleged was intended to stir public unrest. “Harish Rao is the kind of politician who thrives on controversy and dead issues,” Sampath charged.

Refuting the allegations regarding the seed factory, Sampath clarified that neither the Congress government nor Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had any links to the project.

“It is Harish Rao who is peddling lies about the factory, despite knowing full well that any investment exceeding Rs 50 crore requires central government clearance, which has been duly obtained, including from the Environment and Pollution Control Boards,” he stated.

Sampath also questioned whether Harish Rao, as a senior leader, was unaware of the role of the local BJP MP, hinting at political doublespeak.

He accused BRS of “playing with the lives of local people” by spreading misinformation and obstructing development efforts.

He further revealed that Minister Sridhar Babu and concerned officials had already taken public feedback on the project and were proceeding only after consulting with technical experts.

“Not a single cent of land has been taken by the government without due process,” he affirmed.

Calling out what he described as a deliberate campaign of defamation, Sampath Kumar alleged that BRS MLCs and MLAs had demanded huge sums from the seed company and turned against it when their demands were not met.

“Now they’re burning cloth and blaming me and CM Revanth for a thorn that supposedly grew in his house,” he said sarcastically.

He challenged Harish Rao to protest against the “atrocities” committed by his brother-in-law and accused him of shedding “crocodile tears” for farmers while hiding his own misdeeds.

“Congress is committed to cleansing the sins committed by the ten-year BRS regime,” Sampath added.
