Telangana BJP welcomes HC order on local body polls, slams Congress govt for 'undemocratic delay'

Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly welcomed the Telangana High Court’s directive to the state government to conduct long-pending local body elections within three months.
Terming the order a “tight slap on the knuckles” of the Congress-led Revanth Reddy government, the BJP said the verdict reflects growing public and judicial frustration over the state's delay in upholding democratic processes.
Addressing the media at the BJP state office, Chief Spokesperson and Media In-charge N V Subash accused the Congress government of deliberately postponing the elections out of fear of public backlash.
“This is not just a legal order; it is a clear indictment of the Congress government’s inability to face the people. The administration has failed on every major promise and plunged the state into a deeper financial crisis,” Subash charged.
He alleged that the delay in holding the polls has crippled grassroots governance and stalled critical central schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
“Without elected local representatives, people's everyday problems remain unresolved. The state’s incompetence is blocking central funds and welfare programmes meant for both rural and urban populations,” he said.
Taking direct aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Subash said, “The CM has no face to show the people. He is busy conducting lavish foundation stone ceremonies worth crores while defaulting on promises like farm loan waivers and unemployment doles.”
He further alleged that the Rythu Bharosa scheme has become Rythu Vanchana (betrayal of farmers) due to poor implementation and lack of real support for the agricultural community.
The BJP leader also emphasised that the High Court’s directive should serve as a wake-up call not only for the government but also for the people of Telangana. “This Congress regime is a master of optics but has failed to deliver on the ground,” he said.
Reaffirming the BJP's commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, Subash said the party is fully prepared to contest local body elections across all levels—from Panchayats to Zilla Parishads and Municipalities.
He expressed confidence that the people of Telangana will support the BJP for its consistent stand on governance, development, and grassroots engagement.
“The BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to transparent governance and democratic empowerment. We are ready to face the people, unlike the Congress government that is running from accountability,” he added.
