Kalyana Lakshmi completes 12 years; KTR accuses Congress of diluting scheme

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (UNI) BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday said the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes had completed 12 years, benefiting 16.78 lakh poor families.
In a post on X, KTR said the scheme was inspired by an incident witnessed by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during the Telangana statehood movement and was intended to ease the financial burden on poor families during their daughters’ marriages. The schemes were launched on October 2, 2014, with the assistance later increased to Rs 1,00,116.
KTR said the scheme also helped discourage child marriages and provided support to 16.78 lakh families over the past 12 years.
He alleged that the Congress government was attempting to dilute or scrap Kalyana Lakshmi and criticised it over the non-implementation of its election promise to provide one tulam of gold along with the financial assistance.
KTR extended his greetings to beneficiaries on the completion of 12 years of the scheme.
