Telangana: 7,563 SC/ST atrocity cases registered since 2023, says Minister

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Telangana Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Tuesday said 7,563 cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes had been registered in the state since 2023.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, the Minister said a state-level High-Power Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting on the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, was held under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the first time since the formation of Telangana.
Laxman Kumar said the Chief Minister reviewed registered cases, investigations, trials, disposal of cases, financial assistance and rehabilitation measures. Officials were directed to release compensation to victims immediately through a "Green Channel", without linking it to budgetary constraints.
