TPCC chief condemns attack on Maha News channel

Hyderabad, June 29 (UNI) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud strongly condemned the recent attack on the Maha News Channel office, calling it a “heinous and brutal act”.
Speaking at a round table meeting organised by the channel on Sunday, Goud said that any attempt to intimidate the media is a direct attack on democracy.
He alleged that the attack was carried out by miscreants and rowdy elements, and warned that creating fear among media houses is unacceptable in a democratic society.
Turning his attention to the previous BRS regime, Goud accused its leaders of engaging in widespread phone tapping to serve political interests. He claimed that phones of political leaders, film personalities, judges, women IAS officers, and even BRS leaders themselves were tapped.
Describing the act as a “barbaric chapter in the country’s history”, Goud said it was part of a well-planned political conspiracy. He further alleged that instead of appointing a qualified IPS officer to oversee intelligence operations, a retired IAS officer, Prabhakar Rao, was brought in deliberately to facilitate illegal surveillance.
“Who gave them the authority to violate the personal freedom of individuals?” Goud asked, holding not only Prabhakar Rao and Radhakrishna accountable, but also the then Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, DGP, Legal Principal Secretary, and Home Secretary.
He demanded a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible for undermining democratic institutions and individual rights.
