Telangana DGP launches six digital initiatives to modernise CID policing

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) Telangana Director General of Police C V Anand on Wednesday inaugurated and launched a series of digital initiatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), aimed at improving transparency, accountability, investigative efficiency and citizen-friendly policing.
The initiatives include a Citizen Feedback Centre (CFC) to collect feedback from people who have used police services such as petitions, FIRs, e-Challans and passport verification; Bharosa software for digital case management and survivor support across 35 Bharosa Centres; and the official CID website.
The DGP also launched the Jail Release Surveillance System (JRSS), developed by integrating the NIC’s e-Prisons platform with CCTNS to facilitate automated prisoner-release monitoring, SMS alerts and intelligence-led policing. The Mobile Face Search application, backed by a database of more than 9.8 lakh photographs, can deliver facial-matching results in about 15 seconds to help identify suspects, missing persons, deceased persons and unidentified bodies.
Five volumes of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering bodily offences, property offences, crimes against women and children, special and local laws, and other offences were also released to standardise investigation procedures and improve the quality of criminal investigations.
Senior police officials, including DG L&O Mahesh Bhagwat, CID DG Charu Sinha, PCS ADGP Akun Sabharwal and other senior officers, attended the launch programme, according to a statement from DGP’s office.
