Telangana CM warns of strict action against traders selling fake seeds and fertilisers

Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday evening directed officials to take strict action against traders selling counterfeit seeds and fertilisers.
The CM emphasised that collectors and police officers in all districts should remain vigilant to curb the trade of fake seeds.
He directed the agricultural and police departments in each district to jointly conduct task force raids and ensure task forces monitor all state borders vigilantly.
Revanth along with Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who conducted a review meeting with agriculture department officials at the Secretariat to discuss the cultivation of monsoon crops, stated that officials have information about who is selling fake seeds, where the stocks are stored, and the routes of transportation, and urged them to take legal action without overlooking anyone.
He also instructed to file Preventive Detention Act cases against traders involved in counterfeit dealings.
The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to coordinate with all district collectors, SPs, and police commissioners to ensure that farmers face no difficulties regarding seeds and fertilisers.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that sufficient seeds and fertilisers are already available in all districts.
They stated that the cultivation area for paddy and cotton is expected to be larger this season, and all companies' seeds demanded by farmers are available in the market.
The Chief Minister assured farmers that there is no need to worry about fertilisers and seeds. Noting that the monsoon is arriving earlier this time, he urged farmers to pay attention to the weather department’s forecasts indicating an early onset of rains in the state.
The Chief Minister emphasised purchasing only packed seeds, not loose ones, and stressed the importance of keeping the receipt and the seed packet safe until the end of the cropping season.
He also directed the Agriculture Department to conduct widespread awareness campaigns to prevent farmers from being deceived by fake companies and substandard seeds.
