Hyd: BRS leader Sabitha Indra Reddy, son Karthik placed under house arrest

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and her son Karthik Reddy, the party’s Rajendranagar in-charge, were placed under house arrest by Mathura Nagar police at their residence in Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.
Sabitha Indra Reddy expressed anger over the police action, alleging that a large number of police personnel had been deployed at her residence from 4 am without prior notice, despite no protest call being given. She alleged that the government was imposing an emergency-like situation in the state.
Reacting to the arrests, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao criticised the police action in a post on social media platform X, alleging that the leaders were detained to prevent them from participating in a public consultation on the Musi River project.
KTR accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of suppressing the opposition and alleged that the proposed Rs 1.5 lakh crore Musi project was being pursued at the expense of farmers and families living along the river. He also criticised the government for failing to provide adequate compensation to farmers whose crops had withered due to drought.
The BRS working president demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Sabitha Indra Reddy and Karthik Reddy. He said the party would continue its agitation against the Musi project and demanded relief for drought-affected farming families.
