TGSRTC operates 1,417 special buses to meet Dussehra rush

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has stepped up special bus services to meet the heavy passenger rush during the Dussehra festival, with around 1.4 crore passengers travelling in the first three days alone.
TGSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagi Reddy, who reviewed the arrangements through a Zoom meeting with officials on Monday, directed them to operate additional services wherever necessary and ensure that passengers face no inconvenience.
The corporation operated 1,417 special buses on October 9, 10 and 11, an increase of 495 buses over the 922 additional services operated during the corresponding period last year.
The government's Mahalakshmi free bus travel scheme has also provided greater financial relief to women during the festival. Women saved an average of Rs 13.73 crore per day this year, compared with Rs 13.02 crore during Dussehra last year.
Anticipating another rush, Nagi Reddy directed officials to operate additional buses on October 15, 16 and 17. Free travel for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme will continue on Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary and Metro Express buses, including special services.
Passengers can book tickets through www.tgsrtcbus.in or contact the RTC call centre at 040-69440000 or 040-23450033 for travel-related information, a TGSRTC statement said.
