Vizag Collector Directs Officials to Ensure Quality Redressal of PGRS Petitions

Visakhapatnam, Oct 12 (UNI) District Collector Abhisekith Kishore on Monday directed officials to ensure effective and satisfactory resolution of grievances received under the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS), stressing that merely marking petitions as resolved in the system would not suffice unless the underlying issues were addressed.
Reviewing petitions received from various departments and the action taken on them during the PGRS programme, the Collector said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was personally monitoring the grievance redressal mechanism and instructed officials to accord it top priority.
A total of 296 petitions were received during Monday's programme.
The Collector expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of grievance redressal within the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) limits, observing that several complaints had not received satisfactory solutions. He questioned officials who had submitted inadequate inquiry reports without directly contacting the petitioners.
He also sought explanations from officials against whom lapses were identified during pre-audit and super-audit reviews of grievance redressal.
PGRS Nodal Officer Seshashailaja was instructed to issue show-cause notices to officials who failed to attend inquiries.
Kishore directed officials to examine every petition thoroughly and conduct field-level inquiries wherever necessary to ensure that complainants received satisfactory resolutions. He emphasised that grievance redressal must focus on resolving the actual problem rather than completing formalities in the online system.
Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari, District Revenue Officer Visweswara Naidu, Additional Commissioner Satyaveni, PGRS Nodal Officer Seshashailaja and officials from various departments participated in the programme.
