Depression over Bay intensifies into Deep Depression, to become Severe Cyclonic Storm "Murasu', cross AP coast on Nov 3

Chennai, Nov 1 (UNI) The Depression over the Bay intensified into a Deep Depression and would further concentrate into Cyclonic Storm 'Murasu' by tonight and will become a Severe Cyclonic Storm before making a landfall in Andhra Pradesh on November three and weaken into a Depression the next day.
This fourth successive weather system formed ever since the onset of Northeast monsoon on October 15, would bring isolated heavy rains over Northern and Interior districts of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, the Regional Met Office Chennai said under its influence Western Ghat, Interior and North coastal districts of Cuddalore, Villupuramand Tiruvallur districts will start getting rains from tonight till November three, reviving the monsoon which battered several parts of Tamil Nadu for 12 days since its onset on October 15.
Perhaps, for the first time, four back to back systems had formed over the Bay in a short span of two weeks with one intensifying as Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab'. However, it spared Tamil Nadu and moved towards Andhra Pradesh and crossed the coast four days back. Since then a majority of districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and its adjoining Northern districts, are facing dry weather with the mercury level raising with each passing day.
With yet another back to back Cyclonic Storm "Murasu" set to form tonight, it would also spare Tamil Nadu and move towards Andhra Pradesh and cross the coast on November three.
In its latest National bulletin on Sunday issued as a pre-Cyclone watch for Andhra Pradesh coast with Yellow Alart, the IMD said the Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with speed of 23 kmph during the past six hours, intensified
into a Deep Depression and lay centered at 0530 hours of today, over Southeast and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal about 700 km
east-southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu), 770 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 770 km southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 810 km east-southeast of Ongole (Andhra Pradesh).

It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm--once formed it would be called 'Murasu' as suggested by India to the list of names for tropical cyclones in the North Indian Ocean--over Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal during the next six hours and into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over Westcentral Bay of Bengal tomorrow.
Continuing to move west-northwestwards, it is very likely to cross south Andhra Pradesh coast as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100 to 110 kmph and gusting up 120 kmph between Nellore and Narsapur by the morning of November three. After making the landfall, it would weaken into a Cyclonic Storm in the evening and further as Depression on November four
Meanwhile, the Met office said some parts of Tamil Nadu received moderate to light rains with the hilly Coonoor in the Nilgiris district recording a a maxium of 7 cms of rain during the last 24 hrs ending at 0830 hrs this morning.
On the November rainfall forecast, it said the rains would most likely be below normal in Tamil Nadu, while it is likely to be around
77 per cent in the entire southern peninsula as against the average 18.7 cm.
A senior Met official said the mercury level in the southern states, including Tamil Nadu, would be above normal maximum and minimum level in the month of November. He said a very strong El Nino conditions are likely to prevail during November and December.
Meanwhile, TN ended October with a surplus rainfall of 27 per cent despite prolonged dry spell and the rainfall over the monsoon core zones in southern peninsula in October was the ninth lowest since 2001.
