Aichi-Nagoya, Sept 26 (UNI) Sawan Barwal did not just run 42.195 km on Saturday — he ran through 44 years of Indian marathon history and emerged with a silver medal that carried the weight of an entire generation.

On a day when India produced its biggest single-day haul of the Asian Games with seven medals, Barwal’s silver stood out for what it represented: the end of a marathon drought that had stretched all the way back to the 1982 Games.
