Asian Games: Unbeaten India men, women storm into kabaddi semifinals

Aichi-Nagoya, Sep 24 (UNI) India’s men’s and women’s kabaddi teams advanced to the semi-finals after completing their group-stage campaigns unbeaten at the Asian Games here on Thursday. The defending champions’ men’s team produced another commanding performance in their final Group A match against Chinese Taipei, taking a 23-11 lead at half-time.
India had earlier defeated Japan, South Korea and Bangladesh in the group stage and carried their unbeaten record into the knockout phase. The women’s team also remained unbeaten in the group stage, having secured victories in their earlier matches against Bangladesh and Iran before completing their final group fixture on Thursday. Both Indian teams will now compete in the semi-finals as they continue their bid to defend their Asian Games titles. The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, with matches spread across the 1045 hrs and 1545 hrs IST sessions. India’s progression to the last four keeps the country on course for a potential double in kabaddi, with both teams now two victories away from retaining their respective Asian Games crowns. UNI BDN
