New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) India will aim to extend their dominance in the men’s Asian Champions Trophy when they defend their title in Punjab from October 27 to November 5, with the hosts chasing a record sixth crown in the tournament’s ninth edition.
The competition will be held in Jalandhar and Mohali, giving India a chance to add to a record that includes five titles from the eight editions played so far. The team will arrive after successfully defending their Asian Games gold medal earlier this year.
India’s first title came in the inaugural edition in Ordos, China, in 2011. They beat Pakistan 4-2 in a shootout after the final ended goalless, becoming the tournament’s first champions in a six-team field.
