Hayley Matthews reaches new rankings high after Harare heist

Dubai, Oct 6 (UNI) West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has been rewarded for her recent Player of the Series heroics against Zimbabwe by reaching new heights on the latest ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings.
Matthews scored a series-best 326 runs from the recent three-game series against Zimbabwe as part of the ongoing ICC Women's Championship and the 28-year-old reached a new career-high rating on the updated rankings for ODI batters and ODI all-rounders as a result.
The West Indies skipper was in imperious form across three innings, with her knock of 182 in the series opener in Harare a new career-best as she smashed the Zimbabwe attack to all parts of the ground.
Matthews reaches a rating of 731 points on the updated batting rankings to sit in fourth place overall, with India left-hander Smriti Mandhana (790 points), South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt (782) and Australia opener Beth Mooney (744) the only players sitting in front of her.
It is a similar story on the updated rankings for ODI all-rounders, with Matthews reaching a new career-best mark of 467 rating points to close the gap on No.1 ranked Ash Gardner (497 points) to just 30 rating points, according to ICC.
There is more joy for players from the West Indies on the updated rankings, with Shemaine Campbelle (up 15 spots to 74th) making eye-catching progress up the latest list for ODI batters and Afy Fletcher (up two places to 17th), Aaliyah Alleyne (up eight rungs to 49th) and Ashmini Munisar (up 11 slots to 70th) all making ground on the charts for ODI bowlers.
While Zimbabwe fell to a 2-1 defeat to the West Indies across the three-game ODI series they will be buoyed by the performances of Josephine Nkomo with the bat as the right-hander amassed 114 runs from three hits across the series that helped her gain 12 spots to move to 49th on the rankings for ODI batters.
The two teams are also two matches into their three-game T20I series, with Karishma Ramharack (up four slots to 34th) making ground on the list for T20I bowlers and Chinelle Henry (up one rung to 24th) improving up the rankings for T20I all-rounders as the West Indies lead the series 2-0.
