Mandhana admits T20I shortcomings, eyes course correction ahead of Women's Champions Trophy

Raipur, Oct 14 (UNI) India women's cricket captain Smriti Mandhana has acknowledged that the team still has areas to address in the T20I format, saying the upcoming series against Zimbabwe will be crucial in fine-tuning its approach ahead of the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy in February 2027.
"We have won the World Cup in the last one-and-a-half years, but there were a few things we needed to work on in the T20 format especially," Mandhana said, underlining the need for India to turn their recent success into sustained consistency in the shortest format.
The six-match series, comprising three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals, will mark Mandhana's first assignment as India's full-time captain. India will begin with the T20I leg in Raipur on October 16, followed by matches on October 18 and 20. The three ODIs will be played in Vadodara on October 23, 25 and 28.
