India unleash batting carnage in Delhi, smash 221/7

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) Abhishek Sharma unleashed a breathtaking assault on Afghanistan, smashing a record-equalling 30-ball T20I hundred as India posted a mammoth 221 for seven in the third and final T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Thursday.
Abhishek tore into the Afghan bowling attack with an extraordinary 108 off just 34 balls, striking nine fours and 11 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 317.65.
His century came off 30 balls, making him the joint-second fastest centurion in men's T20I cricket and the fastest by an Indian. Abhishek's assault included sixes almost at will as India raced to 100 in the mandatory powerplay.
Abhishek's onslaught overshadowed an equally aggressive opening stand with Sanju Samson, who contributed 50 off 35 balls, including two fours and four sixes.
The pair added 142 runs in just 59 balls before Abhishek was dismissed at 9.5 overs, caught by Rahmanullah Gurbaz off Rashid Khan. His departure came with India already in command at 142 for one.
Tilak Varma lasted only five balls before being run out by Rashid Khan for two, while Samson fell at 13.1 overs after making his half-century, caught by Rashid Khan off Azmatullah Omarzai.
Captain Shreyas Iyer then provided the late impetus, remaining unbeaten on 17 off 12 balls, while Shivam Dube made 14 off 10 before being caught by Rashid Khan off Omarzai.
Ishan Kishan was also run-out for 10 off eight balls as India reached 221 for seven.
For Afghanistan, Omarzai was the most successful bowler with two wickets for 27 runs from three overs, while Rashid Khan took one for 43 from four overs.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bowl.
India went into the match with Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur in the XI, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar were among the substitutes.
India had already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after winning the opening two matches by seven wickets.
