Nieva targets early LA 2028 qualification after Indian boxers’ stellar 2026

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) India women’s boxing coach Santiago Nieva is already looking ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, with early qualification the immediate target after a highly successful 2026 season.
India’s women boxers capped the year with three medals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, including two gold, following an impressive six-medal haul at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where they won five gold medals.
Nieva wants his boxers to secure Olympic quotas as early as possible, giving the team enough time to prepare specifically for the Games. The first major qualification opportunity will come at the 2027 World Championships in Kazakhstan.
