Maha: One dies, 6 injured in massive explosion in Nagpur pharma company

Nagpur, June 17 (UNI) An employee died, and six others were injured in a massive explosion at a pharmaceutical company in Bhilgaon of the district on Tuesday.

The explosion reportedly occurred at around 11 am in the morning in the 'glass-lined reactor' of a unit of Ankit Pulps and Boards Private Limited Company, leading to a major fire.

In this incident, one person died on the spot and six others were seriously injured.

All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Kamathi, where one of them is in a critical condition.

The exact cause of explosion has yet to be ascertained.

Nagpur police commissioner Ravindra Singhal has taken serious note of the accident and said that they are investigating the cause of the explosion in the 'glass-lined reactor'.

Ankit Pulps and Boards Private Limited manufactures microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), which is used in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

The company's products are mainly required for the manufacture of medicines and food items.
