Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) A crane and truck collided at Aarey Bridge in Mumbai's Goregaon area on Friday morning, leading to major traffic disruption on the busy Western Express Highway (WEH) during peak hours.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured and were admitted to a hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable, officials said.
The accident caused a massive jam on the southbound stretch, affecting office-goers and early commuters.
Local authorities, including the Mumbai Traffic Police and emergency personnel, rushed to the spot and began efforts to remove the overturned crane and resume the traffic flow.
The Mumbai Traffic Police issued an alert on social media platform X warning commuters to expect delays. The post read: “Traffic movement is slow at Aarey Bridge (Dindoshi).” Commuters were advised to take alternate routes while recovery operations were underway.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding or a mechanical failure contributed to the crash. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to clear the flyover and restore normalcy.
