CJP seeks withdrawal of cases against Wardha Hindi University students

Wardha, Sep 21 (UNI) The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has thrown its weight behind the ongoing agitation by students of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), urging authorities to revoke police cases registered against six research scholars involved in the protest.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said students raising academic concerns should not face criminal action and described the agitation as a legitimate exercise of their constitutional right to education.
He called for the immediate withdrawal of the FIRs lodged against the scholars.
The protest, which began in July, centres on demands for the restoration of Women’s Studies and Film Studies programmes at the Wardha campus and the resumption of PhD admissions.
Six research students have continued their sit-in outside the Wardha Collectorate.
One of the students said the two academic programmes were shifted from Wardha to the university’s Prayagraj centre in 2022.
He also alleged that PhD admissions had remained suspended for the past four years.
According to the student, over 250 students submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar in July seeking the revival of the courses and reopening of PhD admissions.
He alleged that a police complaint was subsequently filed by the university, leading to an FIR against six students at Ram Nagar police station. The scholars were later barred from entering the campus.
Dipke visited the protesting students at the Collectorate on Saturday and expressed solidarity with their demands.
He maintained that students advocating for educational rights guaranteed under the Constitution should not be subjected to criminal proceedings.
The university, however, defended its actions, stating that no individual or group could be permitted to disrupt academic or administrative activities, obstruct staff movement, lock offices or damage institutional property under the guise of protest.
In an official statement, the university clarified that the six scholars had been temporarily prohibited from entering the campus pending the outcome of a disciplinary committee inquiry.
University officials further stated that PhD admissions have since resumed, while discussions are underway regarding the future of the courses shifted to Prayagraj.
