Creative Foundation urges PMC, police to clear Ganesh festival structures within 48 hours

Pune, Sep 27 (UNI) Creative Foundation president Sandeep Khardekar has urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Police to remove all mandaps, flex boards, arches, chariots, tractor-trolleys, carts and other temporary structures erected along city roads for the Ganesh festival within 48 hours.
In a letter to Pune Municipal Commissioner Navalkishor Ram and Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Khardekar congratulated the civic and police authorities for ensuring that the Ganesh immersion processions passed off peacefully.
He said the smooth conduct of the processions was made possible by the sustained efforts of police personnel and municipal employees and thanked them on behalf of Pune residents.
However, Khardekar expressed concern over the post-festival situation, saying temporary structures erected along roads often remain in place for several days after the celebrations, causing inconvenience to commuters and affecting traffic movement.
He urged the authorities to ensure that all roads are cleared of the structures and restored for smooth vehicular movement within the next 48 hours.
He also pointed out that flex boards had been installed at several locations in potentially hazardous ways, with some reportedly obstructing traffic signals, and requested the authorities to take appropriate action. UNI SP AAB
