Ex MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati calls on Polish PM Donald Tusk, discusses historic ties between Kolhapur and Poland

Kolhapur, Oct 23 (UNI) Former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati of Kolhapur today called on the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, who is currently on a visit to India, in Bengaluru today and discussed the historic ties between Kolhapur and Poland during World War-II.
A high level parliamentary delegation from Poland had visited here in August last to pay homage at the historical monument of shelter given to Polish refugees during World War-II in Valivade village in Karveer tehsil of this district and inspected the proposed Museum of Humanity and Peace project.
In a press statement released by Chhatrapati's office here, Sambhajiraje detailed discussions on strengthening of these historic relations through educational and cultural exchanges, as well as promoting trade, industry, investment and tourism between our two countries.
He also shared with Prime Minister Tusk the vision of establishing a hub for Polish industries in Kolhapur.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Tusk expressed his desire and determination to visit Kolhapur and the proposed Valivade Museum in the near future.
The Valivade Museum of Humanity and Peace is a proposed commemorative project in Valivade village near Kolhapur. It is dedicated to honoring the unique humanitarian sanctuary provided to roughly 5,000 Polish refugees—primarily women and children—who escaped Soviet deportation and Nazi invasion during World War II.
