Fire breaks out at jewellery shop in Mumbai’s Bhuleshwar market

Mumbai, Oct 22 (UNI) A fire erupted at an imitation jewellery shop in the busy Bhuleshwar Market in south Mumbai on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of the building as a precautionary measure, officials said.
Four fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the Bhoiwada area after the fire was reported. Firefighters launched operations to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjoining establishments.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though a short circuit or overheating is suspected to have triggered the incident. A detailed assessment is expected to establish the circumstances leading to the outbreak.
No casualties have been reported so far. Details regarding the extent of damage to the shop and surrounding premises were not immediately available.
Bhuleshwar is a densely populated commercial area of south Mumbai, known for its jewellery businesses and narrow market lanes.
The evacuation was carried out to safeguard people in the building while firefighting operations were underway.
