Mumbai, June 1 (UNI) A massive fire broke out in Mumbai footwear company BATA showroom located in the Fort area of south Mumbai, with no injury reported, while a large stock of the rainy footwear was damaged, officials said here on Sunday.
According to fire brigade sources, the fire broke out around 10 PM on Saturday on the first floor of the ground-plus-five-storey Rustam Building near Veer Nariman Road in Fort.
Fire brigade teams, along with BMC’s A Ward and BEST officials, promptly responded and began firefighting operations. The fire was brought under control within four hours of the rescue operation.
According to the official statement issued by fire officials this morning , "Fire was confined to electrical wiring, installations, cardboard, boxes, footwear, etc., on the mezzanine floor in the Bata showroom."
Firefighting operations were conducted using four hose lines connected to six motor pumps. As of 1:22 PM, cooling efforts were still underway to prevent any potential flare-ups. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined and remains under investigation.
