FDA Maharashtra seizes food stock worth Rs 67.20 cr in 3-month drive, 875 arrested

Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Maharashtra has intensified its crackdown on food establishments across the state, conducting 12,083 inspections during the three-month period from June to August 2026.
In a press release issued on Friday, the FDA said it has issued 5,269 improvement notices, suspended 603 licenses, seized food stock worth Rs 67.20 crore and arrested 875 persons during the drive.
According to the sector-wise data, 1,803 hotels, restaurants, dhabas and clubs were inspected, of which 948 were issued improvement notices and 199 licenses were suspended for serious breaches of Schedule-4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
