Maha: Gadchiroli tops NITI Aayog delta rankings for Apr-Jun quarter

Gadchiroli, Oct 7 (UNI) Gadchiroli district which has had a dubious reputation of being a hub of naxalism in Maharashtra, has secured the top position nationally in the overall delta ranking for the April-June 2026 quarter under NITI Aayog's Aspirational Districts Programme.
According to a release issued by the District Information Office (DIO), for the April-June 2026 quarter, Gadchiroli secured the first position nationally, while Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir ranked second.
It attributed the achievement to coordinated efforts by various departments, which resulted in marked improvements across development indicators.
The district also ranked first in the agriculture and water resources sector, reflecting significant improvements across key development indicators, the release said.
Delta rankings are determined on the basis of progress achieved during a specified period across 48 indicators covering five sectors -- health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure.
District Collector Avishyant Panda said the state machinery and the entire Zilla Parishad worked as a team under the Aspirational Districts Programme to bring about the improvements.
Congratulating all those involved, Panda described the achievement as an inspiration to work even more effectively in the future.
The release said NITI Aayog has commended high-performing districts for their efforts to reduce development disparities, improve living standards in remote areas and promote inclusive and sustainable development.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated the district administration, officials and staff, social organisations, entrepreneurs and citizens of Gadchiroli for the achievement.
He expressed confidence that the district would continue to scale new development milestones with sustained cooperation from all stakeholders.
