Sooraj P. K. was speaking to the media during a pre-season campaign featuring partnership meets and roadshows organised by Kerala Tourism in Pune.
The trend has continued into 2026, with domestic tourist arrivals in Kerala rising 10.98 per cent in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2025, according to the latest tourism statistics and trends.
Sooraj P.K. said Kochi is a popular destination among Maharashtra tourists because of good flight connectivity between Maharashtra and Kochi. The Kochi-Munnar-Thekkady-Alleppey itinerary is also popular among Maharashtra tourists, he said.
The itinerary brings together hill stations, wildlife and spice plantations, backwaters and houseboats, and urban getaways.
