Bombay HC agrees to hear plea challenging lack of transparency in Maha voter roll revision

Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Monday agreed to hear a petition raising concerns over the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Maharashtra and posted the matter for hearing on October 5.
The petition, filed on behalf of two businessmen, was mentioned before a division bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna. The petitioners' counsel submitted that the plea raised an important issue concerning citizens' rights.
The counsel told the bench that the matter was extremely urgent and claimed that at least 2.10 crore citizens' names were likely to be deleted from the state's voter list, according to a news portal.

Maha: DRI Nagpur busts inter-state drug racket, seizes amphetamine worth Rs 1 05 crore

Nagpur, Oct 1 (UNI) The Regional Unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Nagpur, under the Mumbai Zonal Unit, has busted an inter-state narcotics trafficking network and seized 1.312 kg of amphetamine estimated to be worth around Rs 1.05 crore in the illegal market, officials said today.

Aadhaar mandatory for 63 types of property document registrations in Maharashtra from October 1

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) Aadhaar identification will now be mandatory for registration of property-related documents in Maharashtra, with no document registration being permitted without a valid identity proof. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the decision has been implemented from October 1 to curb fraud in property transactions and prevent the use of fake parties and witnesses.
