Maharashtra police file 3,500-page chargesheet in TET paper leak case

Bhiwandi, Sep 19 (UNI) Police have filed a voluminous 3,500-page chargesheet before a court in Bhiwandi in connection with an alleged leak of the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination paper, authorities said.
The chargesheet includes electronic evidence, statements of witnesses and other important material gathered during the course of the investigation.
A total of 16 people have been arrested in connection with the case, according to the investigation. Police have examined the alleged role of each accused and filed the chargesheet after completing their probe into their involvement.
The TET examination is conducted in Maharashtra to determine the eligibility of candidates seeking teaching positions. The purported leakage of the examination paper has raised serious concerns over the integrity of the examination process and prompted an extensive investigation by the authorities.
The chargesheet reportedly contains details of the evidence collected by the investigating team, including electronic records and other material relevant to the alleged paper leak. Statements of witnesses have also been incorporated into the prosecution's case.
The investigating agency is expected to rely on these documents and evidence during the trial to establish the reported involvement of the accused.
Notably, the filing of the chargesheet marks a significant stage in the investigation, which has involved tracing the activities and alleged connections of the accused. The police have compiled the evidence gathered during the probe and placed it before the court for further legal proceedings.
In view of the seriousness of the case, arrangements have been made for a special fast-track court following directions from the High Court. The objective is to facilitate that the proceedings are taken up expeditiously. Further hearings in the matter will be conducted before the Bhiwandi First Class Court.
