Father, son die due to electrocution

Ahilyanagar, Jun 24 (UNI) A 42-year-old man and his son reportedly died due to electrocution in Shikare Vasti in Jamkhed taluka of the district on Monday evening, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Kakasaheb Daulat Shikare (42) and Ganesh Kakasaheb Shikare (15).
Kakasaheb Shikare, a member of Balghan gram panchayat in Shikare Vasti of Jamkhed taluka, and his son Ganesh had gone to spray fertilizer in their field. It is suspected both died due to electrocution as the overhead power cables were already broken at the place.
When Kakasaheb Shikare and his son did not return home in the evening, their family members and some villagers started looking for them. They found their bodies in a field near the broken electricity wires.
A few days ago, the wires on the corporation's pole in Shikare's field had broken in a storm. The residents had informed the Mahavitaran officials about this. But they ignored this, according to the villagers of Shikare Vasti and Balghan. The family has alleged that both died due to the negligence of Mahavitaran officials.
Villagers and farmers have demanded an inquiry and also registration of a case of death.
After receiving information about the incident, assistant police Inspector Ujjwal Singh Rajput of Kharda Police Station visited the spot and started an investigation.
