Action taken against 150 school buses in Mumbai for violating rules

Mumbai, June 17 ( UNI) The Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) has taken action against 150 school buses in the last five months for violating rules including the fitness certificates of the bus and collected a fine of Rs 3.71 lakh from them.
The RTO said that thousands of students travel by school buses in the city every day. However, it is necessary for schools and parents to check whether these buses are safe to transport students.
Many private schools in Mumbai have started from June 9. However, many school bus drivers have not yet renewed their fitness certificates, informed the RTO department.
Although it is mandatory to renew these certificates every year, many are ignoring it. RTO officials inspected 629 vehicles in the last five months. It has taken action against vehicles without fitness certificates, with expired insurance or licenses, and without fitness certificates, RTO said.
