BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar gets major relief from Supreme Court in his invalid nomination case in district Bank elections

Sangli, Oct 16 (UNI) The Supreme Court of India today granted major relief to Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) MLC Gopichand Padalkar by declaring his nomination form valid for the upcoming Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) election.
This verdict sets aside a previous ruling by the Bombay High Court's Kolhapur Bench, which had declared his candidature invalid.
Earlier this week, the Kolhapur Bench of the Bombay High Court set aside the election officer's decision and invalidated Padalkar's nomination.
This followed a legal challenge by former Congress MLA Vikramsinh Sawant and Sujay Shinde, who raised technical objections regarding the mandatory tenure of his society membership and directorship experience in the Jat 'A' Society constituency.
Padalkar challenged the High Court's disqualification by filing an online appeal in the apex court.
During today's hearing, the Supreme Court bench overturned the
High Court's order and restored the validity of his nomination.
With this legal hurdle cleared, Padalkar is now officially back in the running to contest the director positions in the Sangli Bank election.
