Telecast drought meeting live, reduce Kumbh spending to help farmers, demands Sanjay Raut

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and chief Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut demanded on Tuesday that any cabinet meeting which discusses the drought issue must be telecast live so that farmers and people would get to know what is being discussed for their relief.
“There must be a cabinet meeting dedicated exclusively to the drought situation in Maharashtra. Such a cabinet meeting must not be confined to the walls of the Mantralaya (state secretariat building) or the Sahyadri Guest House conference hall. Instead it must be held at a venue where journalists can cover the proceedings of such a cabinet meeting and where representatives of farmers can also attend. Let such a cabinet meeting be held in a stadium if necessary,” Sanjay Raut told newspersons here.
Raut made the statement on Tuesday, even as a cabinet meeting was held at the Mantralaya here, to discuss the prevailing drought situation in Maharashtra.

Following the tragedy, Mahajan contacted the Raigad District Collector and Superintendent of Police over the phone to obtain detailed information about the incident.

Eight students drown at Diveagar Beach in Raigad during excursion

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) Eight students from Alandi in Pune district, all aged 16, drowned while swimming in the sea at Diveagar beach in Raigad district of Maharashtra during an excursion, police said on Thursday.
The students, studying in Classes 11 and 12 at Winners Academy in Alandi, had visited the popular beach on Thursday along with their group.
According to police, the tragedy occurred when the students entered the sea for swimming and ventured into deep water.
