Decision to join Shinde Sena was not voluntary, hints Omraje Nimbalkar; Says Shiv Sena unity will benefit common people

Dharashiv, Nov 8 (UNI) Shiv Sena MP Omraje Nimbalkar has expressed regret over the circumstances that led him to leave the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and join the Eknath Shinde faction, suggesting that his decision was not entirely voluntary.
He also said that the merger of the two Shiv Sena factions would benefit ordinary people, reflecting the sentiments of party workers.
"Whenever a person takes a decision, something must have happened behind it. Nobody takes a different decision entirely out of personal choice. Whether it is a Nagar Panchayat, Zilla Parishad or Panchayat Samiti, was our work so poor that we could not win even a single municipal council or Panchayat Samiti? We are among the people every day. What message should workers like me, who work tirelessly for the organisation, take from this?” Nimbalkar said, expressing his disappointment.
His remarks assume political significance as he had been widely regarded as one of Uddhav Thackeray's loyal supporters.
His decision to join the Shinde-led faction had triggered considerable criticism and speculation in political circles. At the time, he had cited difficulties in securing development works while remaining in the Opposition as one of the reasons behind his move.
His latest comments are his first significant remarks reflecting on the circumstances surrounding his departure. Nimbalkar also emphasised the need for unity between the two Shiv Sena factions.
"The leaders of the two Shiv Sena factions are different. If the Shiv Sena comes together, it will benefit ordinary people. This is also the sentiment of party workers," he said.
Meanwhile, expressing concern over the severe drought affecting the state, Nimbalkar said rural communities were facing an extremely difficult period and that the situation could continue for nearly a year. He particularly cautioned microfinance companies against harassing farmers and rural borrowers for loan recovery.
“I have politely appealed to microfinance companies not to resort to coercive recovery. They should not stop people or forcibly demand money from them. If anyone is harassed or subjected to abusive language by recovery agents, people should inform me over the phone. Criminal cases will also be registered against those responsible,” he said.
Urging farmers not to lose hope, Nimbalkar said difficult times were temporary and people had overcome even the devastating drought of 1972.
“Life does not remain the same all the time. There are periods of happiness as well as sorrow. The present difficult phase will eventually pass. People overcame the severe drought of 1972, and we must face the challenges ahead with courage. Taking an extreme step will not resolve any problem,” he said, appealing to farmers not to take drastic measures in the face of financial distress.
