BJP leader Ashish Shelar slams Manoj Jarange’s 'irrational and abusive' Mumbai march push amid Ganeshotsav

Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) In a sharp attack on Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and minister Ashish Shelar has termed the ongoing push for a Mumbai protest march as "irrational, high-handed, and laden with abusive rhetoric."
As political temperatures soar across Maharashtra, Shelar questioned the timing and motives of Jarange Patil's agitation, warning that dragging top state leadership through unparliamentary language during the holy festival of Ganeshotsav will not be tolerated by the public.
Shelar strongly condemned Jarange Patil's direct verbal attacks on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, asserting that true followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj can never stoop to such derogatory and singular address (ekeri bhasha).
Highlighting that Maharashtra is immersed in Ganeshotsav celebrations, Shelar argued that marching to Mumbai and triggering public inconvenience when lakhs of devotees are out celebrating is completely unwarranted.
Pointing out the logical fallacy of the agitation, the BJP leader noted that out of 14 major demands, 13 have already been fulfilled by the Mahayuti government through legal and administrative frameworks, rendering a fresh stir entirely illogical.
Shelar raised serious concerns over selective targeting, pointing out that Jarange Patil maintains absolute silence on past regimes led by the Congress, Sharad Pawar, and Uddhav Thackeray—none of whom secured legal reservation—while aggressively attacking the Mahayuti leaders who have delivered tangible solutions for the Maratha community.
"When the government is positive, cabinet sub-committees are addressing your issues, and the community stands to benefit from concrete decisions, resorting to aggressive ultimatums during a festival of Lord Ganesha is both illogical and politically motivated," Shelar stated.
