BJP's Spokesperson Ban urges Uddhav, Raj Thackeray to divert rally expenses towards drought-hit farmers

Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) BJP Maharashtra chief spokesperson Navnath Ban on Wednesday urged Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray to avoid spending on the proposed rally in Mumbai on October 4 and instead extend financial assistance to drought-hit farmers in Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Ban said the government had stood by farmers during the drought situation and had released the third instalment of the loan waiver on Wednesday.
He said the government would continue to assist farmers as required.
He criticised the proposed rally, saying that political parties should stand firmly with farmers during the prevailing drought situation.
He appealed to the organisers to avoid what he described as unnecessary expenditure on the rally and use the funds for the benefit of affected farmers.
On Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's reported participation in an INDIA bloc meeting through video conferencing, Ban referred to his earlier participation in meetings through video link and made critical remarks about his political functioning.
On the issue of financial assistance to farmers, Ban said the government would take necessary measures, including borrowing if required, to support farmers during the crisis.
Referring to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut's objections regarding Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Ban said Kumar was not the Election Commissioner when the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections were held. Aadhaar mandatory for 63 types of property document registrations in Maharashtra from October 1
